May 13th was the last time Debby Biro performed with the duo Breacan...wait, what?!?!?! 

Don't be sad--I got married!!!  Now I'm Debby KEE...and a good Irish name it is!!

I spent a lovely week in Northern Ireland on business in April.  If you've never been, make plans to go IMMEDIATELY!!  There is so much to see and do, I was exhausted every day, and we barely scratched the surface.  One of the (many) highlights was a private luncheon at the home of chef Simon Dougan and his lovely wife Jilly.  I had the privilege of being asked to sing after lunch.  I sang "The Flower of Magherally", which says that "I met my love in Banbridge Town", and "She's the queen of the County Down".  We had literally driven through Banbridge that morning, and we were in county Down--It was quite surreal!!

 

Wonderful time yesterday at Celtic Woodstock IV.  Thanks to all of the organizers, and the other great musicians on the bill--Jim Gill, Kevin Palm, Acoustic Scotty & Harry Pepper, JD Eicher and Chad Hoffman.  Can't wait for next year!

Summer's flying by!  I can't believe it's already time for Celtic Woodstock.  This has become one of my favorite events of the summer and it's coming up this Sunday, July 26th. It's bigger and better and open to the public for the first time this year.  It's being held at the Vermilion American Legion 397, where they have an all-weather enclosed pavilion.  Very easy to find on SR 60, just south of SR 2.  Jeff and I will be joined in our Celtic set by Kevin Palm on bagpipes and Jim Gill on guitar.  Also featuring local artists: Jim Gill, Chad Hoffman, JD Eicher and Acoustic Scotty providing solo gigs and a jam session at the end to rock and roll.
Two food trucks will be on hand: 800 Pizza and Dos Gringos taco truck and more.  They are requesting a $5 donation at door, and a canned food donation for Grace's Kitchen would be much appreciated.  Hope to see you all there!

Breacan will be covering both the East side and West side tomorrow night for St. Patrick's Day.  Debby will be performing at Vermilion Valley Vineyards, along with Jim Gill, Tim Cole and Kevin Palm.  Jeff will be joining in the jam on the East side at Heinen's Café in Chardon, part of the Geauga Arts Network Group.

It was standing room only today at the "Sweet Music Fundraiser for Bethany Capasso", held at Vermilion Valley Vineyards.  I joined musicians Acoustic Scotty (Scott Stiert), Jim Gill and Tim Cole for a great afternoon of music.  There was also a chili cook-off, raffles, a dessert buffet and much love for a sweet young lady. 

Last Saturday I traveled to Pennsylvania to the Ligonier Highland Games to compete in the 27th Annual US National Gaelic Mòd.  "What is a Mòd?" you may ask.  A Mòd is a festival of Scottish Gaelic song, arts and culture.  It begins on Friday with competitions in Poetry, storytelling and sight reading.  Saturday is filled with song competitions--solo singing, duet/unison singing and choral singing.  I was honored to received the Gold Medal for Ladies Solo Singing.
